THE ROMANIAN ATHLETICS FEDERATION AND ASTRA ASIGURARI – TOGETHER IN THE CENTENNIAL YEAR

Participating this summer to the London Olympic Games - to take place in UK, between July 27th and August 12th - with the highest possible number of athletes will honour the 100th anniversary of the Romanian Athletics Federation. Winning medals at the World Indoor Championships and European Athletics Championships features among FRA’s main goals in 2012.

To reach these goals, the Romanian Athletics Federation strategically decided to further its partnership with Astra, the insurance market leader in Romania. Thus, ASTRA Asigurari will continue to provide the Romanian Athletics Federation with national champion T-shirts printed with the logos of the two institutions, alongside the Romanian flag. Additionally, the School National Champion T-shirts will be offered for the first time.

“2012 is a meaningful year for the Romanian Athletics Federation, as we celebrate our 100th anniversary. It is also an Olympic year and, in London, we intend to reach our target with the largest possible group of athletes. Once again, Astra Asigurari is here to help us reach these goals, just like it did over the past four years”, stated Sorin Matei, President of the Romanian Athletics Federation at the press conference organized by the Federation on Wednesday, February 22nd 2012, in the institution’s Board Room.

“We have been supporting the Romanian Athletics Federation and Romania’s national champions for over four years. We are glad to support as many athletes as possible in this year’s qualifications for the Olympic Games. And, most importantly, we are particularly excited to help develop Romanian sports and continue to offer the champion T-shirts this year”, said Razvan Ieremia, Astra Asigurari Board Member.

As of 2008, ASTRA Asigurari partnered with the Romanian Athletics Federation, undertaking to provide the champion T-shirts for all age categories, in all National Championships. Initially, there were 44, then another four were added in 2009 (by introducing the NC for Children 1 in the national competition calendar). In 2010, the Children 2 category joined the competition list, thus taking the number of leader “tokens” to 92. In 2011, the Children 3 category competed at national level, adding 58 more titles. In 2012, Astra also provides T-shirts for School National Champions.
