The Romanian Federation of Athletics and Astra Asigurari - a partnership for the Super League

The access of the national team in the Super League, the involvement in the promotion of mass sports (in order to increase the selection mass), the training and motivation of trainers, as well as the development of the infrastructure are the objectives of the Romanian Federation of Athletics (FRA) for 2011. Strategically, in order to meet such objectives, FRA has decided to maintain its partnership with the Astra company, a leader on the Romanian insurance company. This means that ASTRA Asigurari provides the Romanian Federation of Athletics with the champion t-shirts inscribed with the logos of the two institutions, together with the Romanian flag, in 2011 as well.

“The continuing and renewal of this partnership reinforces our belief that we will meet the objectives we have set out for ourselves in 2011. On the other hand, with a partner such as ASTRA ASIGURARI, in this difficult time that sports is facing, offers us courage and energy to conclude what we have truly set out to do", declared Sorin Matei, FRA President, within the press conference organized by the Federation, on Wednesday, February 9th, 2011, in the institution’s Board Room.

“We are glad to have been there for FRA and for the national champions of Romania for over three years. As a matter of fact, we wouldn't have it any other way, as a champion company could only associate itself with champions. Therefore, we support Romanian sports and we are there for FRA, as we will also provide their champion t-shirts this year as well", said Radu Mustatea, President of the Astra Asigurari Directorate.

Starting with 2008, ASTRA Asigurari has become a partner of the Romanian Federation of Athletics, undertaking the responsibility to provide it with the champion t-shirts, for all age categories, in all the National Championships. If such competitions initially amounted to 44 in 2009, the number has grown by four more (by the introduction of the national competitions reserved for children 1 in the international competitive calendar). In 2010, Children 2 have also aligned to the start of the competitions, leading to 92 "marks" for the leaders. As one of the main directions in the FRA strategy is the expansion of the selection base, Children 3 will also compete nationally in 2011, and they will be granted 58 more titles.

The press conference benefited from the participation of Mr. Sorin Matei, FRA President, Mrs. Gabriela Szabo, FRA Vice-president, Mr. Ion Buliga, FRA Secretary General, Mrs. Cristina Vladu, FRA Spokesperson, and other officials. Mr. Radu Mustatea, Directorate President represented ASTRA Asigurari, officially announcing the continuing of the partnership with FRA, together with Mr. Costin Moscovici, press advisor, moderating the event.

AWARDS IN NUMBERS

In 2008 ASTRA Asigurari awarded 610 champions, in 2009 the number thereof reached 688, and in 2010, Astra awarded 744 champions. The estimated number for 2011 is 802 champions. Moreover, ASTRA Asigurari has provided FRA with the shirts for referees, as well as the equipment of persons involved in the organization (land improvement, material operation, etc.).
