Astra Asigurări to pay lei 2.5 million in damages for 300 homes damaged by floods

Astra Asigurări has currently opened 300 damage files for homes damaged by floods in Suceava, Neamţ Botoşani and Bacău counties, with the total value of compensations amounting to approximately lei 2.5 million, declared Astra Managing Director, Radu Mustăţea.

"We have currently opened 300 damage files in four counties - Suceava, Neamţ, Botoşani and Bacău. The estimated amount of damages is approximately lei 2.5 million. The most difficult case is encountered in Suceava, amounting to half of the files - approximately 150. Of course, other files are bound to be initiated, as there are still places that are hard to reach”, stated Mustăţea.

He indicated that the damage to be covered by Astra is reasonable, as the company is a market leader on this segment and thus, the ratio is maintained.

"The insurance degree of penetration for Romanian housing is 12 - 15%. If we are dealing with approximately 4,000 damaged homes, then we will probably be dealing with 600 damage files”, added the managing director of the company.

Mustăţea also specified that the damage files also include 15 insurance policies that were distributed free of charge to Romtelecom clients.

In April, Astra and Romtelecom declared that the natural person subscribers of the fixed telephony operator will benefit from a home insurance policy for three months, free of charge. Within the meaning of the policy, the Romtelecom client benefits from a compensation of up to Euro 20,000, in case of fire, earthquake or flood.

"Approximately 100,000 of the 790,000 clients of Romtelecom who have received the policy are located in the counties that were subject to the most serious damage caused by flood. Astra Asigurări started receiving compensation claims which will be analyzed and it will provide individual settlement, based on the damage file", declared the public relations director of the fixed telephony operator, Cristina Popescu.

She specified that amongst the persons who have received the policy, several ten thousands did not want to benefit from it.
