P&I (Protection & Indemnity) insurance

The ASTRA company provides optional insurance of sea and river ships, as well as other vessels, floating plants and devices assimilated to ships, for P&I risks.

P&I risks concern the liabilities, costs and expenses falling with the ship owners and operators, as well as with the agents thereof during the operation of the insured ships.

The P&I insurance covers an extremely wide range of risks, where the following are the most significant:

compensation for accidents, illness and death of crew members, as well as of other third parties towards which the Insured becomes legally responsible;
the liability of the Insured for the payment of damages and compensation on the loss or damage of the personal effects of sailors, as well as other persons on board;
liability for collision with other ships;
liability for pollution;
liability for the removal of the wreck;
liability for losses, damages or losses in relation to the goods carried by the insured ship;
liability of the Insured, as well as of the agents thereof, for the payment of fines in relation to the insured ship.
