CERTIFICATION OF THE INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT SYSTEM - QUALITY, ENVIRONMENT, LABOR HEALTH AND SECURITY

In the current economic context, marked by globalization, by the acknowledgement of interdependencies between the environment, security and development, we are witnessing the increase in the demands of companies on the quality of the supplied products/services, environmental protection as well as labor health and security protection, and such needs are materialized in constantly more demanding regulations.

The position and reputation acquired by the ASTRA SA Insurance - Reinsurance Company in the field of insurance activities is the result of the development of processes governed by principles such as:

  • Promoting a pro-quality organizational culture within the company;
  • Continuously improving the quality of the provided products/services;
  • Identifying and meeting the requirements of our clients;
  • Assessing process quality based on the results thereof, in constant correlation with the expectations and requirements of the service beneficiaries;
  • Preventing environmental pollution;
  • Preventing the occurrence of work accidents and of professional illness.

The company’s most import Value is its human resources that, together with an adequate infrastructure, are the requirement for providing competitiveness.

The mission we have undertaken is to contribute to the creation of a safety climate in each person’s life.

The strategic objective we have proposed is to set the ASTRA SA company in the top three general insurance companies in Romania.

The concerns of the ASTRA SA company on the implementation and certification of conformity with the ISO standards began as early as 2000. The first step was the implementation and application of the SR EN ISO 9001:2001 standard requirements, which materialized in the certification of the Quality Management System in November 2004 by the SIMTEX–OC certification body.

Due to the positive results obtained between 2004 and 2007, after obtaining the certification, respectively:

  • Reducing the company’s costs and losses by the organization and optimization of the process flow and of document information
  • Reducing and preventing the occurrence of non-compliances on the quality of the provided services
  • Constant improvement of the quality of provided products/services
  • Improvement of the relation with concerned parties (regulatory bodies, clients, suppliers)
  • Improvement of the company management by the clear establishment of responsibilities
  • Increasing the efficiency of internal communication,

the quality management system was re-certified in 2007.

The ASTRA SA company has also maintained itself in the top insurance companies due to the importance paid by the company’s management to the quality concept. As proof, in the beginning of 2010 it was decided to expand the quality management system by the implementation of two other new management systems, respectively the environmental management system and the labor health and security management system.

Thus, a systematic approach on treating environmental issues was adopted, related to issues identified in the company, resulted from the performance of activities, processes and the consumption of natural and energy resources. The environmental management system allows both the impact control of such processes, products and services on the environment, and the decreasing of consumption.

In supplementing the two abovementioned quality and environment systems, the labor health and security management system was also implemented for a better collaboration and management of professional risks (accidents, incidents and professional illness) and for the considerable improvement of professional performances.

In September 2010, a new audit was performed by the SIMTEX – OC certification body, ascertaining that:

The quality management system implemented and certified in the company operates in accordance with the requirements of the SR EN ISO 9001:2008 standard;

The environmental and labor health and security management systems were implemented and they meet the requirements of the SR EN ISO 14001:2005 and SR OHSAS 18001:2008 standards.

Under such conditions, SIMTEX-OC decided to CERTIFY THE INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT SYSTEM in the ASTRA ASIGURARI SA company, which has become the main holder of an integrated management system that is certified on the Romanian insurer market.

In relation to this integrated management system, we propose the following permanent objectives:

  • Maintaining the certification of the Integrated Quality, Environment, Occupational Security and Health System in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2008;
  • Increasing the quality level of services made available to clients;
  • The permanent training and awareness of all employees on the importance of observing the applicable legal norms, regulatory norms and standards on the Integrated Management System;
  • Implementing and maintaining a client satisfaction monitoring system.
  • Increasing the company’s goodwill and building an image of excellence - by reliability and competence in the provision of services;
  • Providing client trust on the capacity to identify, prevent and treat any potential non-conformities of the provided services;
  • Performing professional interfaces with the clients and providing an efficient information feedback
  • Providing the communication, understanding, analysis and application of the policy in the quality and environmental protection field at all company levels, as well as the availability for the publishing thereof;
  • Intensifying the concerns on environmental protection and a close collaboration with the authorities and public interest groups, for the application of a solid environmental policy;
  • Reducing the consumptions of resources;
  • Minimizing the occurrence of significant environmental issues and high risk issues on labor health and security, for internal employees, contracting parties and visitors.

The top management acknowledges the maintaining of the Quality - Environment - Occupational Health and Security Management System as a priority and a deciding factor for the development of the company and the establishment of policies, strategies, programmes and practices for the management of processes and activities in a manner reflecting respect towards quality, the environment and occupational health and security.
